When the weather outside is wintery, that’s no reason to stay trapped inside. Come have fun in the Garden during Beaks and Barks. We’ve got lots of activities taking place mid January through the end of February for enjoying the Garden during the coldest months of the year. You’ll be able to explore the Lewis Birding Trail, included on the North Alabama Birding Trail Map, take some classes on birding and be part of the global Great Back Yard Bird Count. Bring your favorite four-legged friend to the Garden each day to stretch your legs and play some fetch in our “No Leash Zone.” Here, your dog can play off-leash with his pals while you make friends with other pet parents.

Rene Culler’s site-specific work is a mural in glass that celebrates the species-rich Delta and its atmospheric qualities. The Delta is a changeling environment which is constantly shaped and molded by the weather and waterways. As the grasses, almost transparent, catch the light, Culler’s drawings and painting in glass suggest the landscape that southern Alabama holds so dear. The composition is a wall of natural light utilized as a glass canvas for drawing, painting and printing with vitreous enamels. Slumped dimensional panels and blown glass abstractly portray the location’s dimensionality.

I’m excited to host a image transfer workshop with the accomplished ceramic artist, Nelson Grice. This will be a hands-on workshop taking a look and applying various techniques used to transfer painted imagery, copy-machine images (including photography), text, and drawings in your ceramic artwork. We will also explore how to apply color and pattern into the transfer images. Nelson’s work with image transfer techniques is featured in Lark Book’s “500 Prints On Clay.” This workshop is suitable for all experience levels.

Rene Culler’s site-specific work is a mural in glass that celebrates the species-rich Delta and its atmospheric qualities. The Delta is a changeling environment which is constantly shaped and molded by the weather and waterways. As the grasses, almost transparent, catch the light, Culler’s drawings and painting in glass suggest the landscape that southern Alabama holds so dear. The composition is a wall of natural light utilized as a glass canvas for drawing, painting and printing with vitreous enamels. Slumped dimensional panels and blown glass abstractly portray the location’s dimensionality.

"The Miracle Worker"

"The Miracle Worker" is the inspiring true story of young Helen Keller, a native of Tuscumbia, Alabama who is rendered blind and deaf after a bout of scarlet fever as an infant. In desperation, her parents seek help from teacher Annie Sullivan; partially blind herself, to tutor their daughter. Through months of persistence, love, and sheer stubbornness, Annie breaks through Helen's walls of silence and darkness and teaches her to communicate.

When the weather outside is wintery, that’s no reason to stay trapped inside. Come have fun in the Garden during Beaks and Barks. We’ve got lots of activities taking place mid January through the end of February for enjoying the Garden during the coldest months of the year. You’ll be able to explore the Lewis Birding Trail, included on the North Alabama Birding Trail Map, take some classes on birding and be part of the global Great Back Yard Bird Count. Bring your favorite four-legged friend to the Garden each day to stretch your legs and play some fetch in our “No Leash Zone.” Here, your dog can play off-leash with his pals while you make friends with other pet parents.

Cliff's typewriter sits idle as he becomes entangled with the mysterious Sally Bowles. Little do they know that a dark, menacing power is on the rise in Berlin, but for now they remain blissfully ignorant. Afterall, in the Kit Kat Klub, life is beautiful, the girls are beautiful, and even the orchestra is beautiful!
